Wild Thing Chef - Job Description.

We are looking for an experienced plant based chef who is passionate about vegetables and nutritious tasty food! You must work well individually, as the role will require mainly lone working, with the scope for working in a team. The job will involve serving traditional breakfast and lunch dishes through unconventional , creative methods being 100% plant based with some gluten free options. As the business grows and develops the requirements of the chef may evolve.

Key Skills:
-Knowledge of plant based and vegan diets.
-Knowledge of various cooking methods.

-The ability to lone work effectively in the kitchen. 

-Kitchen management -will be the only member of staff working in the kitchen, this includes all aspects of cooking, prepping and safety procedures. Ability to delegate to a prep chef twice weekly. 

-Adaptability as our menus change with the seasons. You often will be required to make swaps of the menu dependent on vegetables that are available.
-Ability to follow all sanitation procedures and food hygiene procedures.


Responsibilities:
-Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.

-Completing the relevant paperwork inline with Food Standards guidelines.

-Recording a list of allergens and ingredients based in each dish for customer safety.
-Preparing ingredients to use in cooking.
-Cooking food in various appliances.
-Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes.
-Keep a sanitized and orderly environment.
-Ensure all food and other items are stored properly and safely.

-Correctly disposing of food which is past its use by date.
-Check the quality of ingredients.
-Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages, liaising with management to ensure that stock is ordered on time. 

-Washing up pans, plates, utensils. 

-Cleaning kitchens at the end of each shift including but not exclusive to - floors, bins, equipment and surfaces.

Experience:
Must have previously worked in a professional kitchen as a head chef, preferably plant based , vegan or vegetarian.

Other:

An interest in veganism and a passion for plant based food is preferable, however not essential.
