CHEF
Full-time (30-40hrs per week) and Part Time (maximum 25 hrs per week)
Description:
We are looking for an experienced plant based chef who is passionate about abundant, nutritious and tasty vegan food! This role will require a lot of lone working; therefore, it is essential to be problem solving, innovative and confident working independently. The job will involve serving traditional breakfast and lunch dishes through unconventional, creative methods being 100% plant based with lots of gluten free, refined sugar free and raw options. As the business grows and develops the requirements of the chef may evolve to include working alongside food preppers, training new team members and working in multiple branches around Cardiff.
Key Skills:

Knowledge of and enthusiasm for plant based, raw and vegan diets.

Knowledge of various cooking methods.

The ability to lone work effectively in the kitchen.

Kitchen management -will often be the only staff member in the kitchen, this includes all aspects of cooking, prepping (will have support during busy shifts from prepper) and safety procedures/paperwork.

Adaptability as our menus change. We have seasonal approach to our cooking, meaning you will often be required to make swaps on the menu dependent on vegetables that are available. We also change our menus regularly (as often as weekly) to provide creative and varied meals for our customers.

Ability to follow all sanitation procedures and food hygiene procedures. Ideally with a Level 3 - Food and Hygiene Qualification (minimum Level 2)

Good communicator - able to work well within a small and expanding team
Responsibilities: -
Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

Completing the relevant paperwork inline with Food Standards guidelines

Recording a list of allergens and ingredients based in each dish for customer safety

Preparing ingredients to use in cooking

Cooking food in various appliances
-
Ensure styled and beautiful presentation by dressing dishes

Keep a sanitized and orderly environment

Ensure all food and other items are stored properly and safely (labelled, dated, allergens listed fully)

Correctly disposing of food which is past its use by date

Check the quality of ingredients

Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages, liaising with management to ensure that stock is ordered on time

Washing up key pans, plates, utensils when KP/prepper/foh aren’t able to

Cleaning kitchens at the end of each shift including but not exclusive to - floors, bins, equipment and surfaces

Completing all relevant paperwork

Devising menu collaboratively

Working with front of house team members to ensure harmonious work environment and that food reaches correct customer
Experience:
Must have previously worked in a professional kitchen, preferably plant based, vegan or vegetarian. Experience working on a large scale and individually, is preferred too
Other: An interest in veganism and a passion for plant based food is preferable, however not essential. Due to the nature of this role, there will be great opportunities to partake in menu development with use of own creative input. Due to a second site opening, there are opportunities
